Thursday, Sept. 15th

Hello, fabulous 1st/2nd Parents! Thank you for coming to curriculum night on Tuesday! If you missed it, I sent out an email with the PowerPoint I presented. Please let me know if you did not receive it. Also, if you could let me know if there is a family member you would like to receive emails and to be on the Remind app. It takes a village and I realize some of the kiddos spend a lot of time at a grandparent's or relative's home. Many of our grandparents are so helpful with homework that it only makes sense that they get the information too!

Our theme this week will be families. Bringing in a share item that tells a story about your child's family for share time on Monday would be terrific! An example would be shells from a trip to the beach, rocks from a walk, or a family picture. Our Australia unit will also begin this week. We will be studying Abraham (specifically his praying) in Bible and our verse is James 5:16:

In 1st grade math we will be studying how to write a number sentence, as well as adding to 6, 7, and 8. In 2nd grade math, we will focus on number sentences as well, problem-solving strategies, Subtracting all and subtracting 0, Using doubles to subtract, and relating addition and subtraction. At home, please complete the homework pages (not required to return, but they get class points for doing so), and talking about how addition relates to subtraction would be helpful!
