Let me begin with a HUGE THANK YOU for everything during Teacher Appreciation Week!!! My heart was so happy reading notes from the students, receiving words of encouragement and gifts, as well as enjoying a wonderful lunch. The Sonshine PTL and all of you are simply the best, and I appreciate YOU for all you do to support your kiddos and me! THANK YOU!!!

                                                      Important Dates Coming Up:




Tuesday, May 9th: Lunch and Recess with Moms and Grandmas. 11:55-12:30, (Save the date, details to come!) If you can come, please RSVP as soon as you can There will be a scrumptious taco-bar and we will be eating in the classroom. The students will sing a few chapel songs and moms and grandmas are invited to join the kiddos at recess!

Saturday, May 13th: Sonshine Dinner and Auction: A Night in Italy 2. Get your tickets asap! There are some amazing items, and the food is great! You won't want to miss this special night of raising money for our wonderful school!

Monday, May 22nd: Zoo Field Trip (I will be needing drivers and chaperones, please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested). *I will be sending out the permission slips this week.

Monday, May 29th: Memorial Day, No School

Tuesday, June 6th: Field Day/Lunch with Dads and Grandpas (9:30-noon) at Klineline. (Save the date, details to come!).

Friday, June 9th: Last Day of School/School Program (details to come) half-day

                                            

AUCTION BASKET! This is the last week to get donations for our basket in. I would prefer any donations be in by this Wednesday so I can put it all together, but if you will be making a donation later than that, just let me know. Thanks for all the help in making this a special auction piece!

Sunny-day reminders! It was such a delight to see the sun this last week! I wanted to let you know that students can bring sunscreen and keep it in their backpack. They must not share it (you may want to explain this at home too), and they will apply it themselves as needed. I will remind them on very sunny days that if they have it they should apply some. They can also wear sunglasses and hats at recess-time. Also, please send your kiddos with a water-bottle if you can. It makes water-breaks so much easier as there's no waiting in a fountain-line to get refreshed!

 There will be a lot going on in the week ahead! We will finish up tests from this last week, as I was gone today. In math, first-grade will continuing studying shapes and distinguishing 2-dimensional shapes from 3-dimensional shapes. 2nd-grade will continue working on data using graphs. All groups will be focusing on shapes, measurement, time, money, and graphing in math centers. In social-science, we will discuss symbols of our country (specifically the Statue of Liberty), and showing respect to and love for our families. In science, we will continue studying butterflies and other insects. In Bible, our verse will be:

Fun, recent, pictures, including our trip to the Hamptons Senior Center and our school prayer on the National Day of Prayer!

On the National Day of Prayer, we met and prayed as a school. I loved hearing what the students thought were important things to pray for. Some things we prayed for included our National leaders, healing, and the world! It was so special.
