Monday, May 22nd: Zoo Field Trip (I will be needing drivers and chaperones, please let me know if you are interested).

Monday, May 29th: Memorial Day, No School

Tuesday, June 6th: Field Day/Lunch with Dads and Grandpas (9:30-noon) at Klineline. (Save the date, details to come!)

Friday, June 9th: Last Day of School/School Program (details to come) half-day

First:

Second:

In math, first-grade will be studying shapes. Second-grade will be focusing on graphs. All groups will reviewing shapes, time, and graphs in math centers. Our theme is art appreciation and we have some activities inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. We will be learning about caterpillars in our Scholastic Reader and studying teh butterfly life cycle in science. In Bible, we will be studying the faith of Martha.

New Incentive! We are collecting our Sonshine Tickets from the week and counting them up o Friday afternoon! Those with the most get first pick at a free-choice activity! This is new and the kids are loving it so far! They are really exited to choose their activities and it is a great reminder of how much we have been "glowing" throughout our week! I can't believe how many tickets they will need to count!!!

First Grade:

Second Grade:

In math, first-grade will study shapes: squares, rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, circles, and composite shapes. Second-grade will focus on money: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, dollars, and counting coins together. All groups will focus on time, money, and shapes! In social science, we will revisit friendship and community. In science, we will focus on the rainforest and plants. In Bible, we learn more about Jesus, specifically His compassion.
