Coming Up Next Week:

Reading (1st Grade):

 2nd Grade Reading:

In math, first-grade will be working on writing numbers to 120 and counting by hundreds. They will also perform story problems that involve writing hundreds numbers. In second-grade, we will end our chapter in double-digit subtraction and start working on place-value to 1,000. In social-science, we will be studying great African-Americans in history, the continent of Africa, and the theme of friendship. In science, we continue studying the human body and what we need to live healthy lives. In Bible, we continue to study Esther. Our verse this week will be Philippians 2:4:

We will begin Character Studies with Miss Glori this week and we will be focusing on the character trait of Patience. We will be choosing students who make a noticeable effort to display the character trait that we are focusing on and recognize them at the following chapel. If your child is chosen to receive this recognition, you will be notified as soon as possible so you may attend that chapel if you would like to. (:

Something we have implemented this week is a "chill out" desk in the classroom. The chill-out desk may be used when a student needs to have time to relax and think about their choices. There is a special sheet there that they fill out and follow up with the teacher on. It is a safe space to express themselves through drawing and writing about an event that may be upsetting them and the goal is to help them move forward and start making good choices again.
