Going Places in 1/2: Saturday, March 4th

Thank you for stopping by, magnificent 1st/2nd parents! We had a busy week in our classroom and your kiddos have been working on many things! The kids have been earning Sonshine tickets all over the place and are very close to the entire class earning their "phrase" (they can earn a letter each day)! When that happens, they get to eat lunch in the classroom and listen to music while chatting it up with their teacher and friends! The picture below is a little hint to them about the rest of the phrase...(;

Important Dates Coming Up:

Friday, March 10th: (from Mrs. Warner):
I am excited to announce that we have scheduled our very first Parent Teacher League (PTL) meeting! The meeting will be held next Friday, March 10^th at 4:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend. If this time doesn’t work for you, don’t worry. We will periodically schedule evening meetings as well.

Saturday, March 18th: Snack and Paint Night with Kim Tener

From Mrs. Warner:

You have a wonderful opportunity to work with our talented art teacher, Kim Tener, on Saturday, March18th, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Sonshine Christian Elementary School’s Snack and Paint Night! The cost is $35.00 and includes snacks and all painting supplies. You will also get to take your masterpiece home with you. Money raised from this event will go toward technology for Sonshine students. If you have any questions, please contact Melanie Byma at 503-348-4770. There are sign up sheets for this event located at the school and daycare offices. You may also reply to this e-mail letting me know that you would like to attend and I will add your name to the list.

Monday, March 20th: Our class leads chapel, 10:00 am.

Thursday, March 23rd Early Release (noon), Preview Night at 6:30 (a great opportunity for prospective parents to learn more about our school)

Friday, March 24th: No school/Student-Led conferences

*While I have received some conference slips indicating preferred time, I am still waiting on some. As soon as I have heard from most parents, I will send confirmation times. Please let me know via text or email your three preferred times (between 8-5) that work. If I can't make it work on Friday the 24th, I may ask if I can meet you another day of the week after school. Thank you!

Here is an important email from Mrs. Warner:

Dear Sonshine Christian Day Care and Elementary School Parents,

I want to make sure that you are all aware of upcoming opportunities at Sonshine, but before I share these opportunities with you I am excited to report that Sonshine Christian Elementary School has been approved for national accreditation! This is a huge step and great accomplishment for our little school! Now, listed below is information about registration for next year's elementary school program, summer educational camps, and more:

· Elementary School Registration - We are offering early elementary school registration discounts for current Sonshine daycare and elementary school families. If you register for the 2017/2018 school year by April 1^styou will pay $250.00. After April 1^st the registration fee goes up to $275.00. If you are a current student at Sonshine, you need to have your registration in by April 1^st in order to save your child's place in next year's class.

o We are offering classes from kindergarten through 5^th Grade next year.

o All 4^th and 5^th grade students will be provided with their own personal technology device!

o Space is limited!

· Summer Educational Camp: "Space Adventure!" - If you register your child for our summer educational camp, "Space Adventure!" by April 1^st you will pay $25.00. If you register for camp after April 1^st the fee goes up to $50.00. The cost of this year's two week summer educational camp is $225.00 (not including the registration fee). Our summer Educational Camp takes place July 10^th– 21^st, from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM.

· Kindergarten Assessments - If you would like your student to take our kindergarten assessment, please sign up for a time at the daycare. Kindergarten assessments are $10.00 and will take place on Tuesday, March 28^thfrom 9am to 3pm.

· PREVIEW NIGHT – Sonshine Christian Elementary School's Preview Night scheduled for Thursday, March 23^rd at 6:30pm. The Preview Night is for all incoming kindergarten parents and NEW 1^st – 5^thgrade parents. (The early registration fee will be offered to all parents who attend preview night).
